Outlining; is it working?

So I am on day three of writing after finishing my outline on saturday. So far so good. I am finding it very useful to refer back to and to put the little details in that I may have forgotten about otherwise. With Book of Remembrance, it was only upon reading the completed MS that I found several details that I had started with in the beginning, had been forgotten about and not carried throughout. Although that is not the end of the world, it did make me paranoid that I might miss things and my continuity may suffer as a result.
My judgement; worth the extra effort so far, but really enjoying getting back to proper writing now!!
Day three and on 3409 words. Picking up speed!

Outlining

The great thing about outlinging? I already have a very good idea what I am going to be writing up to chapter five!
The...more challenging thing? I had gotten quite used to letting the story line flow as I go along. The story was chugging along with it almost flowing so naturally that it felt like I was simply telling a story that I knew. Now I have to create the whole story in advance...more fast paced, but at times I get a little stuck for the next idea. Something which did not (almost, at all) during the whole writing of Book of Remembrance. I think once I go back to the start to write the details, it will all be worth it. I hope.
Found a fantastic blog with great tips: http://kierstenwrites.blogspot.com
After reading that, I feel encouraged. Awesome.

Tomorrow will be filled with writing (and a bit of cleaning I suppose    :-/) Can't wait!

Back to what I love!

Now that my book is chugging along on amazon, I can get back to what I love; writing! Over the last few days I have been getting very excited thinking about plot lines for the follow up.
Today, I started writing the outline for the second book. I only really heard about this while writing Book of Remembrance and then it was too to do it that way, but I think doing it this way will help me plan it better. I don't actually know if I am doing it 'right', but since when has 'doing it right' played a role in how I write?

It is so good to be back to my characters. Editing, it turns out is not my favourite part of writing. Having to go over everything several times with a fine tooth comb can get a bit tedious so it is nice to let my creative juices stretch out again.

It is pretty awesome to think that over four hundred people now own my book! How cool is that? A year ago I had not yet gotten the courage up to even attempt writing!

Awesomeness! Excitement! Joy!

Book of Remembrance - go on, have a look inside!

Free day done (just about)

So my first free promotional day on amazon is just about over and I am so pleased with how many copies were downloaded. I don't know where these people are searching to find my book, but I am so grateful that they are. Hopefully most of them will read it, like it and most importantly, recommend it! Hopefully it translates into more people viewing the book and deciding to buy it!

I am so grateful for a very resourceful husband. How he knows all these things, I haven't a clue (but maybe his answer would be 'google!')

Also finding out that there are ways and ways of going about promoting your book and some ways are thoroughly frowned upon....oh well, you live you learn.

It was such an exciting day for various reasons, but right now I am just about falling asleep....

On to the next day!

Nearly there!

Sunday is the day! My book launch on amazon. I am so super excited. My wonderful hubby has been spending hours to set it all up, doing research on promoting ebooks etc. Makes me so, so grateful that I have such an amazing partner.

From next week I plan to divide my free time between promoting Book of Remembrance and starting to write the follow up. While doing all the final editing I got quite a few ideas for the next story and I can't wait to start with it.

Cannot wait for sunday!! It is going to be awesome!

Back on Track!

Happy New Year!
So over Christmas, things slowed down...a lot. But, I am getting back to what I need to be doing; getting my book published! How this is going to happen, is not so sure though. I have submitted to two more agents by post and although I have not had any response yet from any agents (good or bad), I am now increasingly considering taking the e-publishing route.
I hear you asking why??? A few reasons. Firstly, it will get my book out there much faster (what do I hear you say now, slow and steady wins the race!), no my friends, slow and steady means maybe never. Having done some research, the chances of getting published via the traditional route is slim, to non-existent. Not because I do not believe in my book, but for the pure fact that you have to get the right person to read your book at the right time (i.e what you have written is the type of stuff they are interested in/looking for currently) and that my friends is if they take the time to properly read the submission.
Another reason for self-publishing is that you get a heck of a lot more of the profit than through an agent/publisher type route; up to sixty percent or more. Now that is a massive difference. Plus if I make enough money from the first book I can hire an editor for the second book to ensure even greater success.
Saying all this, I must admit I was a bit unsure about all this at first. But, thanks to the wonderful support and help (hours of research and planning) from my husband, I now believe this may well be the best route for me.
Two-hundred-and-thirty-something pages left to edit and then I can add in the finishing touches before publishing on amazon!!
Say it with me now....whoopee!
