Two weeks and good progress. So I keep trying to decide whether spending the time initially with doing an outline was worth it. In a way, yes, because I do find myself referring back to it. It helps to keep me writing continually witout too much stopping and figuring out where I am going next. However, what I am finding is that I deviate an awful lot from it.
A lot of my best ideas come while writing the story. It is as though the story literally unfolds infront of my eyes while I write. Some things I know I never would have thought of while writing the outline simply seem crucial while I write the story.
I am particularly excited about my latest twist and this was not in the plan at all. I guess in the great debate are you an architect or a gardener, I am a gardener. I plant my seeds and all sorts of wild flowers burst forth. True, I get weeds, but not anything a good bottle of weedkiller can't cope with!
I still feel my ending will be a lot smoother and easier by using the outline I have done, but in future will I write outlines? The eight ball says, 'outcome looks hazy'. Perhaps a modified version of what I did this time.
Now 18 000 words into my book! The more I write, the more I love to write!
Onwards!
